Felix Sheinberger Mexico City Workshop internationally acclaimed illustrator, author, and Berlin art professor Free Sketchwalk with Urban Sketchers CDMX Saturday, October 11, 2025 4-Day Workshop Sunday October 12 - Wednesday, October 15, 2025
Join us for a rare opportunity to sketch Mexico City alongside internationally acclaimed illustrator, author, and Berlin art professor Felix Scheinberger. This immersive 4-day workshop explores expressive sketching, cultural storytelling, and visual interpretation in one of the world’s most vibrant and complex cities.
We’ll begin with a public sketch demo and talk in collaboration with Urban Sketchers CDMX, followed by a guided workshop experience that takes you through the layered history and energy of Mexico City. From the ancient ruins of Templo Mayor, to the monumental pyramids of Teotihuacan, to the leafy grounds of Chapultepec Park, this workshop is built to ignite both your creative and cultural curiosity.
Felix will guide participants through his signature approach to expressive illustration — blending character, chaos, and clarity — while Meagan Burns facilitates the daily flow and logistical magic. You’ll sketch on-site, learn by doing, and leave with a full sketchbook and a revitalized sense of how to see the world through your line. This is not a technical perfection workshop. It’s an invitation to observe deeply, draw boldly, and experience the city with fresh eyes.
What You'll Learn with Felix
How to sketch expressively with energy, attitude, and emotion — no precision required
Ways to develop your personal drawing voice through line, color, and observation
Techniques for visual storytelling on location — including architecture, people, and urban rhythm
How to loosen up your sketches and bring scenes to life with character and chaos
Insight into Felix’s process and approach to keeping sketchbooks as creative companions
Who Should Take This Workshop
This workshop is for artists, illustrators, sketchbook lovers, and visual thinkers who want to draw the world with more personality, energy, and edge. If you’re interested in expressive sketching, creative rebellion, or learning from one of Europe’s most influential illustrators, this is for you. You don’t need to be a professional. You do need to be curious, open to experimentation, and willing to loosen your grip on perfection. We’ll be a small group of adventurous sketchers exploring Mexico City through ink, color, and visual storytelling — learning how to capture a place not just as it looks, but as it feels. Recommended Experience: Some comfort with drawing on location is helpful, but not required. If you’ve ever scribbled in a sketchbook and wished it had more life, this is your moment.

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance for this workshop. Look for a policy that includes medical coverage, trip interruption or cancellation, and emergency evacuation. This is a good safeguard in the event of illness, injury, or other unexpected disruptions. While we’ll do our best to support you if something goes wrong during the trip, you are ultimately responsible for your own medical care, travel adjustments, and early departure if needed. Travel insurance gives you peace of mind so you can focus on what matters: sketching, exploring, and being present.
Hotel Catedral, Our Hotel

Rooms are clean, quiet, and well-appointed, featuring pillowtop beds, premium linens, espresso makers, and free Wi-Fi.Many rooms offer views of the cathedral or the city skyline. Mexico City Weather
October in Mexico City is generally mild and pleasant, with cool mornings, warm afternoons, and occasional light rain. Daytime temperatures are usually in the low-to-mid 70s°F (low 20s°C), though it can feel warmer in direct sun due to the city’s high elevation.
Teotihuacan—where one of our workshop days will take place—is located about an hour outside the city at a lower altitude. It tends to be hotter, sunnier, and drier than Mexico City. There is very little shade at the archaeological site, so come prepared with a wide-brim hat (you can also buy one there), lightweight long sleeves, closed-toe walking shoes, and strong sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottle).
Important Note on Clothing: While Mexico City is cosmopolitan, it is still culturally conservative in many areas. We recommend avoiding tank tops, short shorts, or revealing clothing, especially when visiting sacred sites or more traditional neighborhoods. Lightweight long sleeves and breathable pants or skirts will keep you comfortable while also showing respect for local norms. Pack layers, stay hydrated, and be ready to explore the city and its surroundings on foot. A small umbrella or light rain jacket may also be useful for sudden afternoon showers.

Sketchbook: Canson XL Watercolor 140lb, 9"x12" (or try other large sketchbooks)

The group is limited to 15 participants, plus Felix and Meagan
For group meals, we’ll have one bill per table. You’ll be responsible for paying for what you ordered, plus a 20% tip. Please track your items.
Food sensitivities can be accommodated with advance notice, though corn is a key ingredient in much of the cuisine. Vegan and vegetarian meals are available with some extra effort.
You must be able to walk unassisted and stand for extended periods. This is a physically active workshop in archeologically profound landscapes and uneven urban streets.
