Join artist, instructor, and workshop organizer Meagan Burns for a long-weekend sketch immersion in Mexico City. Our home base is Condesa, a leafy, walkable neighborhood with great cafés and food. From there, we’ll head out to sketch Coyoacán and the Anthropology Museum, with time in Chapultepec, and a Sunday finale that begins in Parque México and ends at Ángel de la Independencia. Each day includes continuous line warm-ups to get your hand moving and your eye awake, followed by guided sketch sessions built for real humans, not marathon artists. This is a small group experience, limited to 8 participants. Accommodations are not included. Each participant books their own lodging. Airbnb is recommended because there are many reasonably priced options in and around Condesa for now. Hotels are available, but choices in Condesa are more limited. If you want to be close to our home base, look for a place near Parque México in Condesa.
What we’ll do over four days in Mexico City
Create Your Own Colorful Sketchbook: We’ll begin by making handmade sketchbooks you’ll use throughout the weekend. This personal sketchbook becomes a one-of-a-kind souvenir, filled with your drawings and memories.
Coyoacán Day with Local Guide: We’ll travel by private van to Coyoacán to sketch the plaza, hear local history from Nina, visit Museo Casa Kahlo (Casa Kahlo Rojo), enjoy lunch at the market, and draw the neighborhood in the afternoon.
Anthropology Museum and Chapultepec: We’ll spend the day at the Anthropology Museum with Nina, break for lunch onsite, then head out for an afternoon sketch session in Chapultepec.
Condesa and Ángel de la Independencia Finale: We’ll sketch Parque México in the morning, then head to Ángel de la Independencia and finish with a closing lunch to wrap the weekend.
Explore Mexico City!
Sketch Mexico City with Meagan Burns
Sketch Mexico City is a long-weekend drawing immersion based in Condesa, limited to 8 participants. The rhythm is simple and effective: continuous line warm-ups, guided sketch sessions, great local food, and time to move through the city with your sketchbook open. We’ll make handmade sketchbooks at Boicot Condesa, sketch Coyoacán and the Anthropology Museum, then finish with a Sunday morning in Parque México before heading to Ángel de la Independencia.
All skill levels are welcome. Continuous line drawing is the core method, but you don’t need training to belong here. You just need curiosity and a willingness to show up and draw. Accommodations are not included. Participants book their own lodging, and staying near Parque México in Condesa is recommended.
Learning Goals

Experience Mexico City through sketching, conversation, and shared meals in local spots
Who Should Attend This Sketch Experience
This long-weekend is for artists who want to experience Mexico City through their sketchbooks, on foot, in a small group, with a clear plan and plenty of room to play.
All levels are welcome. You don’t need polished technique. You do need curiosity, a willingness to draw, and a sense of humor about the messy parts of making art in a real city. This is an active, hands-on sketch immersion. Participants are expected to join the group sessions and outings so the experience works well for everyone.
Meagan Burns is an artist, instructor, and founder of Art Leap Adventures, where she leads small-group sketch experiences built around place, story, and bold linework. Originally from Chicago and now based in Mexico City, she’s known for her Continuous Line Drawing approach, a practice that helps artists loosen their grip on perfection and make sketches that feel alive.
She has hosted workshops in Mexico City, Oaxaca, San Miguel de Allende, San Francisco, and Paris for artists of all skill levels who want to travel, draw, and pay attention in a deeper way. In 2021, Meagan created the Continuous Line Storytelling group, an international community centered on confidence, consistency, and creative momentum. Her workshops are structured, supportive, and direct, with one goal: stronger line confidence and a sketchbook full of honest, vivid pages.

Mexico City (MEX) is a major international hub with frequent flights from across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. When you arrive at MEX (AICM), you can use the airport’s authorized taxi services by purchasing a ticket at the official taxi counters inside the terminal, then handing that ticket to your driver. Uber also operates at MEX, with pickups handled curbside outside the arrivals level.
Condesa (near Parque México, our home base area) is typically within a manageable ride from MEX, but Mexico City traffic is real and travel time can vary widely by time of day. As a rough planning range, rideshare costs to Condesa are often around 160–250 MXN depending on demand and traffic, while authorized airport taxi prices can be higher depending on the company and zone. Please note that Mexico City also has a second airport, AIFA (Felipe Ángeles). It is farther from central neighborhoods like Condesa, and the trip can take significantly longer. When booking flights, double-check that you’re flying into MEX (AICM) unless you intentionally choose AIFA.

Mexico City Weather
Dress in Layers! Mexico City enjoys almost year-round ideal weather, although mornings and evening can be chilly. Layers are super important to stay comfortable. It gets hot in the afternoon and chilly at night, but overall it's quite pleasant and non-humid. Locals in CDMX dress relatively conservatively; avoid wearing tank tops, shorts or anything too revealing, or you’ll stand out. Dress in Layers!
