Join artist/instructor/workshop organizer Meagan Burns on this Sketch Paris workshop, to invigorate the senses as we explore cultural highlights of the fascinating City of Lights, Paris, France.
Our small group will be nestled in the historic 5th Arrondissement, a district renowned for its charming blend of old-world elegance and vibrant local life. With its winding cobblestone streets, inviting cafés, and literary history, the 5th is a perfect base for sketching and soaking up the essence of Paris. Here, we'll begin each day with drawing warm-ups before setting out on new adventures to explore the city’s artistic and historic landmarks: from the majestic Notre Dame to the lush Luxembourg Gardens and the lively streets of Montmartre. Sketching and savoring our way through the City of Lights, we’ll immerse ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere that makes Paris so adored.
Paris is a dream destination for lovers of art, history, and culinary delights. Though it’s impossible to see all that Paris offers in one visit, this carefully curated agenda ensures you experience some of the city’s most iconic sights, tastes, and artistic inspiration, with plenty of time dedicated to sketching in this magnificent setting. If you adore cities with rich histories, artistic treasures, and adventurous food scenes, you won't want to miss the chance to Sketch Paris with Meagan Burns!
Charming Paris
Sketch Paris with Meagan Burns
Meagan has thoughtfully designed a fresh and engaging workshop agenda, specifically crafted for those who want to immerse themselves in the dynamic energy of Paris through continuous line urban sketching. This workshop is for artists who thrive on being in the heart of it all, capturing the buzz of city life, its architecture, history, and culture, rather than retreating to remote villas or quiet studios.
With a focus on continuous line drawing, we’ll work to expressively capture the essence of Paris in all its richness. This technique emphasizes fluidity and spontaneity, allowing you to create sketches that convey the vibrancy of the moment, without the constraints of precise detail. It's a powerful approach to connecting with your surroundings, perfect for artists of all skill levels looking to loosen up and deepen their practice.
In this workshop, you’ll not only refine your continuous line drawing skills but also create a personalized sketchbook that tells the story of your Paris experience. Meagan’s guidance will help you embrace the imperfections of the process, allowing your artistic expression to unfold naturally and confidently. Each day, we’ll begin in the 5th Arrondissement with morning exercises before venturing out to sketch iconic landmarks like Notre Dame, soak in the beauty of Luxembourg Gardens, and explore the artistic vibes of Montmartre. Along the way, you’ll enjoy delicious meals and enriching cultural experiences, all while embracing the art of capturing the scenes of the city. An unforgettable artistic journey in the heart of Paris awaits.

Paris Accommodations
Workshop Begins:Monday, September 8, 2025 (arrive a few days before to get settled) Workshop Ends: Sunday Night, September 14, 2025 (depart Monday, September 15, 2025)
Our 2025 "Sketch Paris" workshop will be based near the Metro Maubert - Mutualité, in the heart of the 5th Arrondissement, one of Paris' most historic and vibrant neighborhoods. Known for its rich history and artistic soul, this district offers the perfect backdrop for urban sketching. With its charming narrow streets, centuries-old architecture, and bustling cafés, the 5th Arrondissement provides endless inspiration for capturing the essence of Paris in your sketchbook. Just steps away from my apartment, our workshop will be within walking distance of the iconic Latin Quarter, the serene banks of the Seine, and landmarks like the Jardin de Luxembourg. This area has long been a haven for artists and intellectuals, making it an ideal base for our creative explorations. For your convenience, I’m recommending four nearby hotels, each within easy walking distance of our meeting point. On my recent trip to Paris, I stayed at Hotel Marignan, and it was lovely and considered a budget stay, however the is no elevator (in case you get on a higher floor), and their breakfast consisted of a beautiful croissant, a portion of a baguette, coffee and juice. Generally speaking however, I prefer a breakfast with more protein (although Parisian croissants OOLALA). Be sure to check all the details of the room you are looking to reserve.
Hotel Marignan, a cozy, economical hotel perfect for a budget conscious experience.
Hotel Home Latin, located next door to Hotel Marignan, has an elevator and more breakfast options.
Be sure to check and confirm the specific details of your hotel of choice, like elevator access or breakfast option when booking, to ensure the right fit for your stay.

Paris Weather
Dress in Layers!Paris weather in early September is generally mild and pleasant, but temperatures can vary throughout the day. Mornings and evenings may be cool, while afternoons can be warm, especially in direct sunlight. Occasional rain showers are also possible, so it’s wise to pack a light, waterproof jacket or an umbrella. Layering is essential to stay comfortable, allowing you to adapt to changing conditions. Parisians tend to dress stylishly but modestly; consider wearing casual, comfortable clothes that are appropriate for both outdoor sketching and dining in local cafés.
