Urban Sketching in Guanajuato
with Susan Dorf, January 26-29, 2017
Hit the streets! Join us on an exciting art adventure while basking in the brilliant colors of Guanajuato, considered the jewel of the Mexican colonial cities. Our small group will stay at a charming B&B located in the heart of Guanajuato, and artist/teacher Susan Dorf will guide us through the streets of Guanajuato as we practice and expand our urban sketching skills during this weekend workshop.
We'll arrive Thursday at noon and spend the afternoon sketching Guanajuato after an art lesson from Susan. Each evening we’ll meet for happy hour on the glorious roof-top patio and a review of our sketchbook progress, followed by dinner at a local restaurant. Mornings will start with a very cheery rooftop breakfast, followed by Susan's lesson before hitting the streets for more on-site sketching. Sunday morning we'll finish our workshop projects and discuss what we've learned, in addition to any final shopping, before embarking on an afternoon bus back to San Miguel de Allende. Guanajuato is only 75 minutes away from San Miguel de Allende, but its University and musical backbone give it a much different feel, some say tres European! Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to see and sketch Guanajuato, while learning valuable techniques from local favorite artist Susan Dorf.
Susan Dorf is known for her wonderful colorful street illustrations and has been teaching illustrated journaling in San Miguel de Allende and her hometown Santa Cruz, California for more than 20 years. Workshop price is $425 USD, which includes shared accommodations, welcome reception and dinner, full breakfast each morning, nightly happy hour, and materials to create your own sketchbook. The full agenda is now available, with minor adjustments to come.

Where is Guanajuato, Mexico?Guanajuato is about 75 miles north of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato and about a one hour and fifteen minute bus ride. If you will be attending us from far away, the closest airport is Leon, Guanajuato (BJX) with many daily flights from Texas and elsewhere. Airport shuttles can be arranged through BajioGo transportation, based out of San Miguel de Allende for about $30 USD. Safe, convenient and efficient, we do it all the time!
