Meagan’s enthusiasm and techniques have inspired me to keep on sketching, and to try new approaches and materials. She has created a community of sketchers in our little group that is very supportive of each of us, honoring and cheering on our individual approaches.--Elaine B.
What a gift-Meagan Burns and her sketch class have saved my life during this CV19 lockdown. Meagan is a fearless, exceptionally brilliant and a talented artist who is skilled in birthing the artist in all of us - I am deeply grateful.--Sheila S.
"I've enjoyed participating in the Daily Sketch sessions because it's given me the courage to take RISKS and to NOT hold back with color and ink (I've buried my eraser!) ...... the daily practice has been grounding and freeing at the same time!!" --Cynthia B.
I've enjoyed participating in the Sketch sessions because it quiets my mind, it's stimulating and fun to sketch with others during a class, it gives me a quiet focus to my day, and Meagan is an engaging teacher. -- Karen U.
Meagan's Daily Sketch Zoom sessions have been so valuable to me because I'm not only improving, but by painting everyday, I'm overcoming longtime fears of picking up a pencil and brush. --Christine C.
The pressure is low and positive and it's wonderful to be part of this online community. Meagan sets the tone and the group is friendly and supportive. We share the same goals of working on sketching skills in a non-competetive way, LOVE IT! --Lynda H.
I had intended to make sketching a daily habit, but did not make that commitment to myself until now. My art is developing as I put these miles on my brush, and I appreciate the opportunity that Meagan has presented! --Debra M.

VIDEO TESTIMONIALS:
Are you ready to put aside the heebie-jeebies and be a Daily Sketcher? Wonderful, let's make it happen!
I've truly been leaning into my sketching, as a way to not get too panicked about what was happening on the news -- and as a way to stay away from the news. I've been picking up my pen every day, even on some days when my teeth were chattering. The sketching has been getting me through these odd days, so I invite you to join me and begin to create a new habit.
ZOOM SKETCH SESSIONS: The Zoom Sketch Sessions run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:00am OR 10:30am OR 12:00pm CST, and you're invited to join me to create a daily sketch habit. I'll be in our private Zoom sketch class and once gathered, we'll do warm-ups and then some timed sketching. These sessions are only sold in monthly blocks, so prepare to commit for at least one month -- and watch your art sky rocket!
WHAT DO YOU NEED: To get started, please choose a sketchbook that you'll pick up each day; my suggestion is to keep it around 9"x12"' -- or thereabouts. You can work in any medium that you are comfortable with, because the point is to sketch each day, and the tools you use can evolve over time as you learn new things. Have some paper for warm-up exercises, and that may not be a sketchbook -- copy paper or notebook paper is fine for these exercises. My current tool bag: 9"x12" Canson medium grade sketchbook Platinum Carbon fountain pen, extra fine with refillable carbon ink Pencils Pentel Black Brush Pen Water brush Squirrel brush Daniel Smith + American Journey _ M. Graham watercolor palette (a grab bag!) Spray bottle + paper towel Assorted markers, brushes, pencils, cheap paints, expensive paints -- I play with them all!
HOW IT STARTED APRIL 2020
HOW IT LOOKS NOW
WHEN DO WE MEET?: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 9:00am - 10:00am CST (Chicago/Mexico City time) 10:30am - 11:30am CST (Chicago/Mexico City time) 12:00pm - 1:00pm CST (Chicago/Mexico City time)
We'll meet in a private Zoom classroom, and you'll need a password, which you'll get from me after you register. At the start of each new calendar month, you'll receive a new password, should you decide to continue these classes.
GUIDELINES: - No apologizing for your work. We do short timed sketches and whatever you accomplish in that time frame is great; no need to explain. - No instruction. We show up to practice and showing up is half the battle. We learn from each other and share tips and tricks, but please refrain from instructing others how to do things. - No politics. Wayyyyyyy too insane so we keep it out of our sessions. - No competition. We are a diverse group of sketchers, each at our own level and we're here to support each other in our evolution. It's not a race to create the perfect sketch; all of us have good days and bad and even the stinkers can teach us a lot. Ya win some, ya lose some :)))
WHAT IF I MISS A CLASS?: You'll have 48 hours to watch a replay, and I'll automatically send the link out each day.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?: $50 USD per month -- yes that's all for on average 12 classes per month (about $4 per class) Your $50 payment is good for a full month cycle, you may join mid-month as you wish, although there is no pro-rating. USD Payment via PayPal + transaction fee $2.50: $52.50 If paying from outside the US, please add a $4.00 USD transaction fee.
WHAT DO I DO WITH MY SKETCH?: Cherish your sketch as much as you will, but please also share in our Private Facebook group. You'll receive a link to the group once you register, and you're welcome to share with the group for as long as you like.
WHAT IF I CAN'T SKETCH?: If you can't sketch, you probably would not have read this far, so something tells me you sketch --or you're interested in sketching. If you truly believe you cannot sketch, the best way to change that is by practicing every day.
I started my habit by drawing a tweet each day that I randomly selected -- that was hard. Then I moved on to #coffeesketch -- where I learned to sketch what was in front of me, and I literally wanted to have my sketch done by the time I finished my coffee. That meant no dilly-dallying over details! This daily online sketch practice will prompt you to create a daily sketch from real life, not from photos. Real life is so much more interesting, plus helps to develop your eye for future sketching.
